2015-04-08· What's the consensus on the best place to put it? Replace the drain plug with the sensor? Put it in the feed to the oil cooler? after the oil cooler? I can see merit and downsides to each. I was thinking cool side of the oil cooler would be the best since that's the temp that enters the engine. but maybe I want to know the temp it's exiting the engine? I'm over thinking this. Any tips for ...

It is held on with three 5X20 mm bolts. This would be an ideal place for the oil temperature sensor if you are up to the task. __________________. Edek.
2012-06-13· For the average person, putting it in a sandwich plate is probably the best place as it gets constant flow past the sensor, and is easy to fit. You will also be able to fit an oil pressure sensor in too as the sandwich plates typically have 2 or more provisions for sensors.

2009-03-18· So I bought AEM oil temperature gauge and was wondering where is the best place to install the sensor. Tried to search but didn't find answer. 2018-06-27· I'm pretty sure the C6 oil temp sensor is in the oil level sensor. There's a thermistor there, and you can read the resistance across pins 1 or 3, and 2 to read it, just need to splice into the harness.

2020-04-03· The best place to measure the temperature of the oil in in the oil pan. To install a temperature probe in the pan, you would need to remove the pan, drain the oil, and install a bung on the side of the pan for the sensor to screw into. That is exactly what I have done with my P400, the only difference being my pan is cast aluminum and your pan is steel. See photos below.

The oil pressure sensor goes in the stock location under the alternator. You don’t need the dummy light. The oil temp sensor can go in the back oil galley plug (you’ll need an adapter plug) that’s under the intercooler, left side if you look from the front of the car. That being said, I took my oil temp sensor out because it was leaking and I’m choosing to put in an afr gauge instead.
2 Find a location where oil temperature can be measured such as a test port, in the oil pan (ISSPRO makes a replacement ½”-20 drain plug which includes a ⅛" NPTF port, R78899), or in the oil filter housing. 3 Check the thread size of the port being used. Use included adapter bushings, if required. Temperature sensor threads are ⅛” NPT/NPTF. Many Emission Control Devices are connected ...
2007-04-25· At best, it's just a measurement of the trans case temp. Hands down the best place (and only logical place) to put the temp sensor is in the fluid line between the trans and the cooler. You want to measure the fluid's temp after it leaves the trans and BEFORE it reaches the cooler to get an accurate reading on just how hot the fluid is getting. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented ...

2006-02-15· A better place for the oil temp sensor is in a T where the oil pressure gauge connects. I'm not sure it's big enough for a sensor though -- I've never connected an oil temp gauge. You should really use a cross (four way) here as you should have a T already. Even running a gauge you should have the idiot light connected. I've seen a gauge fail before, idiot lights rarely fail. It's a good ...
